Miiro Borneta Officially Opens Its Doors In Barcelona

Annabella Pardo

Miiro, the new lifestyle hotel brand, announces the highly anticipated debut of Borneta, which opens its doors this month, marking the brand’s second opening in Europe. Located in the heart of the vibrant El Born, Barcelona’s most enchanting neighborhood shaped by an avant-garde community of artists, boutiques, and history, Borneta seamlessly blends contemporary aesthetics with local charm.

Following a complete renovation in partnership with James Thurstan Waterworth, founder of Thurstan, renowned for his transformative approach, the hotel’s design is brought to life with contemporary décor and a local art program, transforming it into a canvas of creative expression.

Neena Gupta, CEO of Miiro and Executive Director of Group Strategy and International Hospitality at InterGlobe Enterprises comments: “We are delighted to celebrate the opening of Borneta, the second property of Miiro, debuting only one month after the opening of Le Grand Hôtel Cayré in Paris. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing our collection of characterful boutique hotels growing while delivering the Miiro promise - to deliver Brilliantly Considered Stays that connect guests with the local neighborhood.”

Borneta features 92 rooms and suites, each individually designed with Brilliantly Considered details, taking creative inspiration from the neighborhood’s warm tones and the city’s rich color palette. Spanish furniture and antiques add to the authentic feel, enhanced by a collection of pieces by local makers, artisans, and artists. Guests can choose from a range of room options, including The Classic, The Superior, The Signature, The Corner and The Terrace, many of which boast outdoor terraces, balconies or overlook standout sights, such as Passeig de Picasso or Carrer de la Fusina. A true highlight is the suites, elevating guests’ stay with supreme comforts, featuring exclusive rooftop access, a fully stocked complimentary mini bar, beautiful spacious terraces to enjoy spectacular Old Town views or a relaxing soak in the outdoor bathtub.

The heart and soul of Borneta is Volta - a lively restaurant with an open-plan kitchen, a stylish cocktail bar and a wide terrace sheltered under the iconic Porxos de Fontseré arches. Created by Head Chef Andrea de Benedictis, Volta’s menu is a culinary journey of discovery along the Mediterranean coastline, inspired by the vivid flavors from Spain and Italy to France and North Africa. Volta’s simple yet delicious dishes are made using the very best local ingredients from small-scale organic suppliers and are designed to be shared, in the famous Mediterranean spirit of generosity.

Additional hotel spaces include 180º, its exclusive rooftop terrace with an outdoor plunge pool that invites guests to unwind in an intimate setting, while enjoying unparalleled views over the roofs of El Born and Barcelona’s iconic Parc de la Ciutadella.

The Gallery, a comfortable lounge area and peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city, where guests can relax with a drink during check-in, get lost in a good book, focus on work, or simply sit back and enjoy some people-watching. The Library, curated by Casa Fahrenheit, offering an intriguing selection of novels about the present and past of El Born, inviting guests to get lost in a good book, while enjoying one of Volta’s signature cocktails.

There is also a Refresh Room - a Miiro brand signature - that guests access before check-in and after check-out. Perfect for freshening up if the room isn’t ready, safely storing luggage, or preparing for a long flight, this space is equipped with stylish changing rooms, showers, toiletries, and charging points. Lastly, the hotel is also home to a state-of-the-art Fitness Centre, complete with the latest gym equipment, cardiovascular machines, free weights, and a stretching area.

Marina Riess, General Manager at Borneta comments: “Borneta is set to become a central and integral part of the local community of El Born with its visionary design, eclectic gastronomy and socially driven spirit drawn from its surroundings. We look forward to connecting our guests to this inspiring city through an unparalleled art program and authentic experiences for travelers and locals alike.”

A luxurious and perfect brunch plate awaits you at Imperfecto. Imperfecto is the newest restaurant by legendary chef Enrique Limardo and the team behind Seven Reasons DC. The restaurant is inspired in the intersection between the Mediterranean & Latin American Cultures, and sustained in Enrique Limardo's bold culinary approach.

At Imperfecto they believe that human beings are not perfect. Although they themselves are the first to acknowledge this, it is evident the restaurants' drive and ambition are a strong catalyst to propel them in reach of culinary perfection.

The restaurant design is inspired by the Greek culture. The oldest definition of "perfection", goes back to Aristotle, who defined the concept in three: which is complete; which is so good that nothing of the kind could be better; which has attained its purpose. In addition to the a la carte menu, Imperfecto offers a 12-course Degustacion tasting menu featuring an expertly curated selection of crudos and small plates at the chef’s table. Our top selections for brunch include their spicy avocado toast with grilled octopus, the wild mushroom french styled omelette, and fried chicken with corn pancakes.

An Exclusive Tour Inside Lyle, An Art Deco Dream

Annabella Pardo

Before their grand opening, Off The MRKT was invited on an exclusive private tour of the magnificent Lyle, and we are simply fascinated with the newest luxurious art deco hotel in Washington DC.

G8PVdeBI.jpeg

Lyle Washington DC, is a brand-new independent hotel from Lore Group, opened in the capital’s vibrant Dupont Circle neighborhood in April 2021.

In redesigning the interiors of property, Lore Group Creative Director Jacu Strauss wished to create a world of calm, a place where you can feel in complete comfort in understated style. The luxury is in the details, the soft Art Deco references in celebration of the building’s original features, a dedication to craftsmanship and natural materials. He created a place where you can say goodbye to the noise of the outside world, a completely relaxed hotel to call your own.

8Sc4VZOR.jpeg

“With Lyle we wanted to take the best of “home” and make it even better,” said Abe Liao, Lore Group’s Regional General Manager for the D.C area and a native Washingtonian. “It’s our priority for our guests to feel as content and comfortable during their time at Lyle, as they might when staying in a friend’s beautiful apartment.  Whether staying in one of our guest rooms, hosting a meeting, dining in Lyle’s or catching up with friends for coffee – if we’re doing our job right, Lyle should feel like it was designed just for you."

XRGzc0JQ.jpeg

In the rooms and penthouse suite, Strauss created spaces that are comfortable and calming in neutral tones featuring natural materials including Burl wood art deco headboards, rattan seating and berber carpets. The mattresses and linens were chosen for ultimate comfort while artworks and the majority of furnishings are bespoke and designed by Strauss and his team. The rooms feel inviting and residential, as do the bright bathrooms with their handmade tiles and D.S Durga amenities. Additionally, 56 of the 196 bedrooms feature kitchenettes which are convenient for long stay visitors to the Capital. Lyle offers their in house gym and a multitude of meetings and event spaces suitable for everything from private dining to intimate weddings.

The restaurant and bar, Lyle’s is an intimate, inviting and welcoming space featuring bespoke furniture, a custom Herman Miller pendant cluster and an open kitchen. Nestled into the corner of the building, it is the perfect neighborhood restaurant and bar serving breakfast, brunch and dinner as well as familiar cocktails prepared with a gentle twist. It offers seasonal, contemporary American fare paired with easy-going, unobtrusive service. At the helm is Nicholas Sharpe, a seasoned chef who previously worked with Chef Fabio Trabocchi at the Michelin-starred Fiamma in New York City.

Every Sunday, you'll find the culinary team from Lyle's a the Dupont Circle Farmer's Market. They'll have a signature Lyle's meal for you to enjoy at home, plus some delicious samples of their house baked goods to try.

As a neighborly welcome, Lyle would love to invite those of whom live in the area to join them for a complimentary drink at the bar, offer until May 31st.

As the Smithsonian Institutes and other Washington DC Museums are reopening throughout this month, there is simply no better time to book a holiday to our glorious nations capital. Lyle highly recommends pre booking to visit The Smithsonian National Zoo, to finally meet baby panda Xiao Qi Ji.

Lyle, the second U.S. property from the international hospitality company behind renowned hotels Sea Containers London, Pulitzer Amsterdam and Riggs Washington, D.C, is located on New Hampshire Avenue in an early 1940s Art Deco building constructed originally to house apartments.
