Located in the heart of the vibrant El Born, Barcelona’s most enchanting neighborhood shaped by an avant-garde community of artists, boutiques, and history, Borneta seamlessly blends contemporary aesthetics with local charm.

Following a complete renovation in partnership with James Thurstan Waterworth, founder of Thurstan, renowned for his transformative approach, the hotel’s design is brought to life with contemporary décor and a local art program, transforming it into a canvas of creative expression.

Neena Gupta, CEO of Miiro and Executive Director of Group Strategy and International Hospitality at InterGlobe Enterprises comments: “We are delighted to celebrate the opening of Borneta, the second property of Miiro, debuting only one month after the opening of Le Grand Hôtel Cayré in Paris. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing our collection of characterful boutique hotels growing while delivering the Miiro promise - to deliver Brilliantly Considered Stays that connect guests with the local neighborhood.”

Borneta features 92 rooms and suites, each individually designed with Brilliantly Considered details, taking creative inspiration from the neighborhood’s warm tones and the city’s rich color palette. Spanish furniture and antiques add to the authentic feel, enhanced by a collection of pieces by local makers, artisans, and artists. Volta’s simple yet delicious dishes are made using the very best local ingredients from small-scale organic suppliers and are designed to be shared, in the famous Mediterranean spirit of generosity.

Additional hotel spaces include 180º, its exclusive rooftop terrace with an outdoor plunge pool that invites guests to unwind in an intimate setting, while enjoying unparalleled views over the roofs of El Born and Barcelona’s iconic Parc de la Ciutadella.

The Gallery, a comfortable lounge area and peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city, where guests can relax with a drink during check-in, get lost in a good book, focus on work, or simply sit back and enjoy some people-watching. The Library, curated by Casa Fahrenheit, offering an intriguing selection of novels about the present and past of El Born, inviting guests to get lost in a good book, while enjoying one of Volta’s signature cocktails.

Meraki Brooklyn has also just launched a delectable new happy hour during the week serving Greek appetizers, wines and beer. Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn, this restaurant offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere inspired by the Greek Isles, providing a delightful escape for diners.

Meraki Brooklyn is the first location outside Miami for the Meraki Hospitality Group, known for its successful Greek dining concepts in South Florida, including Meraki Greek Bistro and Meraki Gyro. Led by Executive Chef Giannis Kotsos and Managing Partner Alex Karavias, the team brings their passion for authentic Greek flavors to New York, building on a strong reputation cultivated through their Miami locations.

“Meraki means to put something of yourself into whatever you do, and that’s exactly what Chef Giannis and I have been doing since we opened the original Meraki location,” said Alex Karavias. "Our cuisine is a reflection of our love for Greek tradition, featuring fresh ingredients and classic flavors that have resonated with our guests in Miami, and we can’t wait for Brooklyn to experience the same."

Guests at Meraki Brooklyn are transported to the Aegean Sea with its charming decor featuring breezy white curtains, rustic wooden floors, cozy seating and gorgeous bar with bougainvillea adorning the ceiling overhead, which are designed to evoke the warmth and charm of a Greek taverna. Family-style platters, known as “Poikilies,” encourage sharing and bring people together around the table, just as they would in Greece.

Adding to the dining experience is a carefully curated all-Greek wine list, featuring traditional and organic selections from Greece’s most renowned winemakers and unique micro-wineries. Guests can also enjoy a selection of Greek beers, highlighting both traditional favorites and new brews from local Greek microbreweries.

Meraki Brooklyn’s new happy hour features delectable appetizers with favorites such as mussels, calamari, spanakopita, honey and sesame cheese puffs and more for $7 each, house wines for $8 a glass and Greek beers for $4.

"We’ve always been about bringing people together over good food," said Chef Kotsos. "Every dish we create is meant to remind you of sitting by the sea in Greece, enjoying a meal with family and friends."

Discover the Year-Round Appeal of Château Minuty Rosé

Annabella Pardo

Though rosé has become synonymous with summer, pigeonholing it to warm days by the pool is doing the category a disservice.

Most of our favorite qualities about rosé, like its freshness and sippability, make it ideal for a range of pairings, occasions, and seasons.

Minuty Prestige Rose

A brilliant robe, a nose of great finesse. Dominant flavors of tangy red berries are followed by notes of apricot. The wine’s pronounced minerality draws out a lingering finish on the palate. This cuvée is the result of a meticulous blending of a selection of grapes from the Appellation with those from the estate.  This wine has a crisp, clean, earthy and vibrant personality. Chateau Minuty Rosé et Or

The 2023 vintage elevates the winery’s signature subtle flavors and intense aromas to new heights. It features elegant citrus and wild herb aromas, a light palate, and distinctive minerality with characteristic salinity from the Minuty terroir. The cuvée Château Minuty Rose et Or, with its generous, delicate suppleness, can accompany a wide variety of dishes, especially as it brings out the spices. Composed of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Cinsault, and 5% Tibouren, this wine is both elegant and crisp. Experience via ReserveBar.com

Surviving New York: Tips on Housing, Transportation, and More

New York City is one of the most dynamic and exciting cities in the world. It is a hub of business, culture, and entertainment, attracting millions of visitors every year. However, living in New York City may not be for everyone. As a new resident, it can be overwhelming to navigate the city's fast-paced lifestyle, high cost of living, and housing challenges. To help you prepare for this life, we have compiled some useful tips.

Finding an Apartment

When moving to New York City, one of the key things you should consider is housing. Finding an apartment that meets your needs and budget can be challenging. If you want millennial properties that offer convenience, a smart apartment is the way to go.

Smart apartments are equipped with technology that enables you to control various aspects of your home, such as lighting, temperature, and security, through a mobile app or voice commands. These apartments offer a higher level of comfort, convenience, and security compared to traditional ones.

When searching for apartments, be sure to do your research and choose a reputable property management company. Consider the location, amenities, and cost before making a final decision. Additionally, be prepared to pay a higher rent for a smart apartment, as the technology comes at an added cost.

Understanding the Transportation System

New York City is known for its extensive transportation system, which includes buses, subways, taxis, and ride-sharing services. However, navigating the system can be daunting for newcomers. To make your commute more manageable, familiarize yourself with the subway map and bus routes. Download a transportation app to help you plan your trips and track delays or service changes.

If you plan to use taxis or ride-sharing services, be aware of surge pricing during peak hours. It's also important to note that the city has a bike-sharing program, which is an excellent way to explore the city and get some exercise.

Budgeting for Living Expenses

Living in New York is expensive, and it's essential to have a budget in place to ensure you can afford your living expenses. Calculate your monthly expenses, including rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, and entertainment. Be prepared to spend more on basic necessities such as food and housing than you would in other cities.

Additionally, consider ways to save money, such as cooking at home, taking advantage of free events and activities, and using public transportation instead of ride-sharing services. You can also find discounts on entertainment, shopping, and dining through apps such as Groupon and LivingSocial.

Embracing the Culture

New York City is a melting pot of cultures, and there is always something new to discover. Embrace the city's diverse neighborhoods, museums, art galleries, and restaurants. You can attend cultural events and festivals to learn about different traditions and customs. You can also visit nearby areas like wineries in East Hampton and stroll in parks like Central Park and the High Line, which offer a respite from the urban jungle.

Making Connections

Moving to a new place can be lonely, but New York offers numerous opportunities to make connections. Join local clubs and organizations, attend networking events, and volunteer in your community. You can also use social media and apps to find like-minded people with similar interests.

Conclusion

Moving to New York City can be an exciting and rewarding experience, but you need to plan and prepare carefully. Finding a smart apartment, understanding the transportation system, budgeting for living expenses, embracing the culture, and making connections are essential steps to making the most of your time in the city. With these tips, you can navigate the challenges of living in New York City and enjoy all it has to offer.
