Corcoran Group, LLC today announced its continued expansion in Florida by welcoming its newest affiliate in Sarasota and St. Petersburg, Corcoran Dwellings, led by Liane Jamason and Marc Rasmussen. The announcement, made by Pamela Liebman, President and CEO of The Corcoran Group, is the firm's first affiliate launch of the new year.
From the broad beaches of its barrier islands to the vibrant cultural landscape of its downtown core, Sarasota offers an unparalleled array of opportunities for residents and visitors alike. Just recently, U.S. News and World Report named Sarasota as the best place to retire in 2022. Comparably, St. Petersburg is the 5th largest city in Florida known for its youthful atmosphere, historic homes, and a strong focus on community. 'St. Pete', as it's called among locals, has also been nicknamed the Sunshine City – thanks in part to a Guinness World Record it holds for the longest stretch of sunshine in the country. For all of this and more, both areas are an ideal fit for Corcoran's ever-expanding Florida presence, one of the firm's two home states through brokerage-owned operations.
"I couldn't be happier to kick off this year by welcoming another fantastic firm to grow our presence in Florida – a place near and dear to so many of us at Corcoran," said Liebman. "Sarasota and St. Pete have so much to offer, and now we get to offer our inimitable brand and expertise to clients in the region. Liane and Marc have built something really special together, and I'm pleased that they're continuing that work as Corcoran Dwellings."
Established in 2011, the firm formerly known as Dwell Real Estate was founded in Sarasota by Marc Rasmussen, a veteran Realtor® who had a goal of building a boutique experience for buyers and sellers alike. After successfully recruiting numerous top-of-the-line agents, the firm later opened its second office in late 2016, in St. Petersburg. Three years later, Marc then joined forces with Liane Jamason, who to date has had more than $147 million in lifetime sales. Together, they've crafted an environment based around the utmost agent support and professionalism – one that has resulted in them setting several sales price records in the region. And just last March, Liane closed on the sale of former Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Blake Snell's home.
"We prioritize each client by making them feel like they're our only client with a focus on superior market knowledge, thorough client communication and ethical client advocacy," said Marc Rasmussen, founder and co-owner of Corcoran Dwellings. "We also always want to give our affiliated agents the best resources to take their business to the next level and we prioritize working with like-minded individuals. With a focus on lead generation and technology, our goals align perfectly with the Corcoran brand, and we look forward to being part of the broader Corcoran family."

The Northeast migration down south continues after the likes of Carl Icahn, Goldman Sachs and many others have set their sights set on Miami. Millionaire and billionaire execs and investors leaving the NYC for the South Florida area – who will benefit greatly from sunny weather and lower taxes, among other things - will surely need advice on where to live. The residences listed below offer varying amenities and features for executives should Goldman Sachs change their headquarters, making it easy to find the perfect home in South Florida:
For the car lover out there, Porsche Design Tower in Sunny Isles Beach is next level. Developed by Dezer Development, the 60-story tower offers the “Dezervator” car elevator – a patented revolutionary car elevator system that takes both residents and their vehicles up to their home, where cars double as apartment keys. These built-in “sky garages” are separated from the living area by a large glass wall and scream, “I’ve arrived.”.
For those who appreciate both fashion and unbeatable views, Residences by Armani/Casa’s 60-story oceanfront tower – also in Sunny Isles Beach - is Armani/Casa Design Studio’s first real estate project in the U.S. Also developed by Dezer Development, in cooperation with The Related Group, this branded residencies ideal for the international fashionista.
And for those who want peace and luxury outside the city, there’s - Windsor, a private luxury residential community in Vero Beach perfect for the low-key family with impeccable taste who desires privacy. The members-only community was designed in the New Urbanism style of residential living and is comprised of 350 homesites in several styles, all remarkable for their signature Anglo-Caribbean architecture. Residents enjoy seclusion combined with golf, tennis, wine, exemplary services, and sporting activities.
Elizabeth Hanley, President of Windsor Properties says “Windsor is ideal for individuals and families who desire a more private lifestyle without sacrificing luxury or a sense of community. We have an increasingly diverse and multigenerational membership. Our buyers are drawn to Windsor for its design aesthetic, world-class sporting amenities, and wide range of culinary and cultural events and activities. As corporate financial giants migrate to South Florida, we have seen and expect to continue to see more interest from executives and their families relocating from NYC and other northeastern cities.”

Read MoreNowadays, increasing numbers of people are renting properties. There are various reasons for this. Many people are unsure what direction their life is going to take and tend to prefer short lets that allow them to move about until they are ready to settle down. It could also be largely down to the price of properties and the cost of living significantly increasing, while salaries remain the same, giving people less opportunity to save cash towards a deposit and afford a property of their own. However, when people do look into buying a property of their own, they tend to purchase something in the state they have grown up in and are familiar with. This makes sense in regards to living near to family and friends and not having to move jobs. But if you’re moving further afield or are planning on investing in real estate for profit, you may find yourself looking at properties in a different state to that which you grew up in. Here are a few steps that you should incorporate into your house hunt when purchasing a property in a different state!
While there are some laws that remain the same throughout every state, more niche and specific laws tend to differ between one state and another. When you purchase a property, there are all sorts of legalities that you need to adhere to. So, it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with the local property laws of the state you’re interested in. This will help to prevent making mistakes and potentially losing money down the line.
Using an estate agent local to the area you intend to move to can ensure that you get the first glimpse of new properties being placed on the market in your intended destination. You can discover more about this here!
Nowadays, increasing numbers of estate agents are advertising their properties online. This makes it much easier to browse properties that lie further afield, as you can simply check through listings and look at pictures of different places that could meet your needs. But it’s extremely important that you make the effort to travel and attend a viewing in person before purchasing a property or handing over any cash in exchange for it. Photographs can be extremely flattering and they can also leave out any unpleasant aspects of a property. A house may look perfect in pictures, but there could be a sewage plant nearby that means the space has an awful smell all of the time, or it may be located next to a train station or busy road, making it a noisy space to live in. You won’t be able to pick up on these things until you actually visit yourself.
Sure, buying any property is a complex and intense process. But this can be amplified when you are purchasing in a different state. Hopefully, the above advice will help you to secure the out-of-state property of your dreams as easily as possible.
