Napa Valley Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
Napa Valley Quilt is fifth-generation winemaker Joseph Wagner’s tribute to the character of Napa Valley and its rolling patchwork of vineyards. Napa Valley Quilt exemplifies the classic cult-style wine structure achievable only in the Napa Valley, while the blending of fruit from a variety of vineyards allows the wines to have more complexity and a better style consistency from vintage to vintage. The complex and bold assemblage of dark currant, blackberry, marionberry, and toasted hazelnut balance with hints of cardamom and dry dark chocolate. Pair this wine with a fattier steak like ribeye or sirloin cooked medium-rare to soften the tannins, highlight its fruity flavors, and balance out the salty fat.
Casillero del Diablo Carmenere
This medium-bodied wine showcases lovely fruit aromas and flavors of dark plums and black currant, dark chocolate with hints of spice, coffee, and toast from aging in French oak barrels. Deep purple in color, this soft textured, well-structured Carmenere culminates in a fruit focused finish and is the perfect under $15 bottle to sip and share. Named the #2 most powerful wine brand in the world four years in a row, and Wine Enthusiast’s 2020 New World Winery of the Year, Casillero del Diablo is at the forefront of the world’s attention with this South American gem, sparking a uniquely Chilean sense of adventure in every glass.

As we head into peak of Autumn, sports fans and gourmands alike are looking towards the fall season which always guarantees two things: football and tailgating. We can count on the American pastime to bring us together virtually or in-person to talk, celebrate, and drink together, and while beer is often thought of as a tailgating go-to, we think that food-and-wallet-friendly wines deserve consideration this time of year. Whether you like an upscale tailgate or a bowl of chips and dip, there’s a wine out there for your game day celebrations
The winemaking team at La Crema has been perfecting Chardonnay for 40 years, and it shows. The 2019 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is flavorful, bright, and juicy, making it an ideal pairing for a wide variety of cheese-centric Sunday snacks - plus, it’s incredibly easy to find at your local grocery store while you’re out hunting for game day supplies. For a low-key pairing, kick back with a bowl of cheese-its or some warm, gooey queso with chips. If you’re looking to take things up a notch, try dungeness crab mac and cheese or honeycrisp apple pizza with balsamic onions.
At the heart of this wine is the love of pairing an honest wine with casual meals and gatherings. Acrobat should always be an effortless selection – a wine that consistently pairs in every way with our lives. This Pinot Noir has rich, fruit-forward aromas of bright cherry and raspberries, with hints of cinnamon and baking spices. Notable ripe strawberries and dark chocolate up front, followed by earthy and spicy notes of clove. If you’re keeping up with the latest cooking trends, then crispy smashed potatoes will be the perfect pairing indeed.
An old-school California red blend, that's briary, jammy and plump, with blackberry and currant flavors highlighted by savory underbrush, licorice and smoke notes, leading to medium-grained tannins. This wine was crafted with finesse and power, just like your favorite team. The ETTORE Red Wine is the best selection to pair with your cheese boards or mouth-watering hamburgers on the grill.
This expressive wine explodes with a perfume of wild raspberry preserves with hints of clove and confectionary spice. Soft red fruit flavors take over the palate, supported by leather and elegant botanical accents on the mid-palate, with lovely notes of toasted espresso beans on the finish. Serve with cowboy steaks, crispy sage potatoes, and sauteed tuscan kale for an elevated tailgate.
2016 Aldina Vineyards harvested in early fall embodies the dark red volcanic soil. Its gorgeous magenta hue has intensifying aromatics of pomegranate, dark cherry, anise and allspice. This Cabernet Sauvignon strikes the palate with silky soft, yet lush flavors of sweet oak spices intertwined with caramel, toasty vanilla, tart cherries, and dark fruits. This wine has a tasty expression of elegance and is ready to be enjoyed!
Dark berries and plums resonate on the palate with framing tannins and bright acidity typical of the Forestville region of the Russian River Valley. Pairs well with grilled mushrooms, salmon, lamb, game fowl, and cool nights cuddled up in a blanket by the fire pit. Drink now through 2026.
As if you need an excuse to drink more Rosé, between weekends in the Hampton’s, or rooftop sunsets, it’s our favorite time of year.

Read MoreWe are in a heat wave and it is hott out. While you may be going for your white wine or hard celtzer, the perfect red wine is all you need during these Summer days and nights. Having a bottle chilled goes perfectly by itself or during a late night in the hamptons a red is perfect by the fireplace. Not sure what Red to pick up? We’ve got you covered with our Summer selects below.
“When thinking of reds to enjoy during the summertime, my go-to red is Pinot Noir. Typically Pinot Noir is not as substantial as other red varieties. A good light-bodied Pinot Noir can be very versatile with a numerous amount of summer dishes, such as savory burgers and grilled veggies. I would recommend trying the Landmark Vineyards 2018 Overlook Pinot Noir, as it has a great balance of ripe red fruit on the entry, savory elements on the mid-palate and a clean finish with subtle spice notes. This perfect summer sipper can be enjoyed on it’s own or with dishes such as a Roasted Beet Salad with arugula, goat cheese & pecans or a Filet Mignon with a mushroom cream sauce with friends and family at your table.” Stated by Winemaker Greg Stach Landmark Vineyards
The 2018 Overlook Pinot Noir represents another splendid blend from some of California’s best cool climate growing regions in Monterey, Santa Barbara and Sonoma Counties. The palate on this red is medium to full bodied with ripe red fruit of strawberry, raspberry and black cherry fruit with balanced spice and earth mixed with leather, dusty tobacco leaf and subtle oak on the mid-palate.
This seamless rich red wine is hand-harvested between March and April, Terrazas’ signature Reserva Malbec is synonymous with very intense colors, aromas of fresh fruit, flowers, and spices. This vintage is kind, aromatic and fresh. Its precise tannins provide great softness and presence in the mouth.
The newest addition to the Mezzacorona portfolio, DiNotte expresses the aromatic richness of two native varieties that thrive on the foothills of the Dolomites mountain range in northern Italy: Teroldego (70%) and Marzemino (15%). A small amount of Merlot (15%) is added. With notes of plum and blackberry with a hint of cocoa and vanilla, this full-bodied, lushly textured wine makes it the ideal pairing for grilled steak, barbecue ribs and pork chops.
It is typical for red wines to be served room temperature, however, not many people know that some reds can actually be served chilled, such as Apothic Red . This red is one of the few red wines that actually works great at room temp AND when served chilled, making it the perfect match for an outdoor barbecue to celebrate the holiday! The dark and brooding character pair unexpectedly well with smoky flavors.
After cracking open a can, the nose is met with aromas of red roses, fresh fig, red berries, and orange peel that give way to a refreshing, lively palate of raspberries, watermelon and pomegranate. The higher acidity of the wine light profile of this red wine make it ideally served chilled.
Bin 389 is often referred to as ‘Baby Grange’, in part because components of the wine are matured in the same barrels that held the previous vintage of Grange. First made in 1960, by the legendary Max Schubert, this was the wine that helped to forge Penfolds solid reputation with red wine drinkers combining the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz. Bin 389 also exemplifies the judicious balance of fruit and oak.
Full and dense, with strong black & blue fruit notes up front from the Petite Sirah, complemented by bright red, slightly candied fruit in the background from the Zinfandel. The darkly toasted oak ties it all together along with a slightly sweet finish.

Is there a drink for Summer 2020? Lambrusco! Lambrusco is a well-known wine that is making its way up the popularity list just in time for the summer.
Lambrusco can vary from a dry to sweet wine and is most often semi-sparkling. The red grapes are found in Northern Italy, the Emilia-Romagna region, and it is one of the oldest wines in Italy. The variance of Lambrusco wine makes the wine pairable with many different foods. Lambrusco gets its flavors from multiple berries including blackberries, boysenberries, cherries, strawberries, and raspberries. These fruity flavors make Lambrusco a great drink to sip on this Summer.
Ventuini Baldini organically harvests Lambrusco wines in its winery located in the province of Reggio Emilia. They also harvest Lambrusco varieties like Sorbara, Grasparossa, and Salamino, all branches of Lambrusco made from different types of grapes.
So, next time you’re planning an outdoor meal, try a Lambrusco. It pairs well with cured meats, pizza, grilled meats, and burgers. This wine should be your go-to drink of the summer. Its pairing to almost any food, fruit flavor, and sparkling consistency will keep you happy and satisfied during a hot day.

It’s always a good time to educate yourself on the things you love. Whether you want to learn more about your favorite language or your favorite drink, there’s always more to learn. If you love the taste of Rosé or the way that bottle of Pinot Noir pairs with your steak, then it may be a good idea to learn more about why your wine is the way it is. To help you on your way to deeper wine knowledge, take a look at three things every wine lover should know!
Knowing a great deal of information about wine isn’t as easy as you’d imagine. The romantic and inquisitive journey to studying wine can bring you historical and cultural importance, and, most importantly, a job title. Some people even take up wine courses to expand their knowledge on the field. Certain individuals around the world call themselves as wine experts, wine connoisseurs, or sommeliers.
A sommelier is known as a wine expert that typically works in a fine dining restaurant. They’re sought for their compelling knowledge, and experience with wine tasting and selection, service, storage, and food pairings. If you consider yourself a wine lover, you can take your interest further and obtain a sommelier certification.
The Court of Master Sommeliers introduced four levels to becoming a certified sommelier, from Level 1 to 4 Sommelier. Before qualifying for a sommelier certification for a higher level, you’ll need to first possess a certification for the preceding level. To practice a wine-related career in a renowned food establishment, it’s best to get a certified Level 3 Sommelier or Advanced Sommelier certification. The advanced level proves to be the most challenging next to the Master Sommelier certification, as only 14 students pass this evaluation annually.
By pursuing sommelier certification, you’ll be able to broaden your knowledge about theoretical wine knowledge, including the history, geography, and type of grapes used for every wine. Also, you’ll be immersed in the following wine-related activities:
Wine tasting and service
Wine decanting
Choosing the right wine bottle price range
Assisting guests in navigating wine menus
Learn proper wine serving temperatures
Achieving a standard five-ounce wine pour
If you don’t finish a bottle of wine the day you open it (which is probably a good thing) then you need to make sure that you’re storing it properly. Many people shove the same cork back into the opening while others opt for store-bought wine stoppers. These are good options, or you can even go with plastic wrap and a rubber band! Either way, you want to keep air from leaking into the bottle.
That said, you also need to pay attention to the temperature you’re storing the wine at. Though red wine shouldn’t be served chilled, it should be put in the fridge to slow down the oxidation process.
Red wine: Stored at 57–64 °F
White wine: Stored at 46–50 °F
Champagne or sparkling wine: Stored at 41–44 °F
Rosé or dessert wine: Stored at 52–55 °F
If you’re a fan of red wine, but don’t quite understand why your mouth dries out after a few sips, then you need to do some research on tannins. Long story short, they are compounds that exist in grape skin and stems that release into the wine. They bind with the proteins in your mouth and add to that drying out sensation. That’s why, when you pair a tannin-forward wine with a nice slab of red meat, you don’t notice that dry mouth sensation as much—it’s binding to the protein in the meat rather than the protein in your mouth. When you know about tannins, you’ll have a better idea of what to pair with your favorite bottle of red.
Though you shouldn’t chill red wines, your bottles of white wine, champagne, and most dessert wines taste better and showcase more flavor when they’re chilled. Though you may feel tempted to pop the bottles in your normal fridge, those temperatures might be too cold and end up seeping the flavor out. You can pop the bottles in a wine fridge or you can try out some of these awesome chilling techniques!
Chill the wine with frozen grapes—they won’t dilute the wine like ice cubes will.
Put salt in with your ice bucket—salt reduces the freezing point of ice and lowers the temperature of your wine bottle.
Chill Champagne with wet paper towels and then put it in the freezer for 5–10 minutes.
These are just a few of the important things every wine lover should know. There’s much more out there—you just have to take the time to look!
