See Inside These Amazing Homes with Unique Arched Windows
First used hundreds of years ago during the height of the Roman empire, arched windows were originally utilized for their stability as buildings began growing taller and grander. Today, the arched window has become a status symbol for condo developments, seen on some of the most luxurious residential buildings throughout the country.
Providing a striking architectural moment from inside and out, arched windows are a unique addition that instantly elevates a home's grandeur and character. I'd like to propose a round-up of residential developments featuring beautiful arched windows and have included the NYC's best examples below.

Beckford House & Tower
William Sofield has created gorgeous interiors for Tom Ford and Gucci stores all over the world, posh homes for the rich and the fabulous, and truly towering mega-luxury skyscrapers that attract the globe’s most elite circles. His sophisticated style has not only earned him a GQ cameo and an AD100 title, but also the admiration of fashion’s most esteemed players, like Ralph and Ricky Lauren and Mary Kate Olsen. And after decades in the business, William's most ambitious vision for glamorous living has finally culminated with Beckford House & Tower, an Upper East Side project that just might be William’s largest to-date, with not one, but two prewar-inspired buildings he’s designed inside and out. Beckford House & Tower feature a nouveau classic facade that doesn’t stop at stone and brick. Sofield pushed the envelope with a series of Juliet balconies, intricate ironwork, expansive private setback terraces and dramatic arched windows that would give each building character. In designing the facade, he wanted to create subtle focal points that future inhabitants could see from the street, and use as a map in finding their home or bedroom window. He pictured young kids being able to see and point to their bedrooms via their arched window, for example, a quirky benefit of a detailed facade in New York City.

200 East 83rd Street
200 East 83rd, the new Upper East Side residential tower by Robert A.M. Stern Architects with interiors by Rottet Studio, is a celebration of the neighborhood’s architectural romance. Drawing inspiration from the grand structures along Park, Fifth and Madison Avenues and the historic clubs and cultural institutions that have shaped the Upper East Side, Stern and his partners synthesized a unique design language for the Modern Classical building. One resulting component is arched windows, found within 200 East 83rd’s monumental indoor/outdoor amenities spaces and select Penthouse residences. RAMSA’s unique decision to lift the seventy-foot pool, health club and entertainment spaces to the middle of the tower is boldly expressed on the building’s façade and complemented by Rottet Studio’s gracious amenity interiors. Each featuring a vaulted ceiling, double-height loggia with floor-to-ceiling arched windows and French doors, the 17th-floor pool room and Winter Garden create visual drama while inviting the outdoors in and allowing for natural light, fresh air and incredible New York City skyline and Central Park views. Residents can overlook both spaces from inside the state-of-the-art fitness center and yoga studio, which also boast arched windows. Lining a portion of the custom wood- and leather-paneled library on the ground floor are arched windows with French doors leading to a serene landscaped garden. At the building’s crown, three dramatic penthouse residences feature double-height ceilings for a sublime living experience and a luxurious materiality frames both the indoor and outdoor spaces.
