One of the largest and most important private collections of Outsider Art in the world is amplified in the home of author Ronald Shelp (Fallen Giant: The Amazing Story of Hank Greenberg and the History of AIG), and his wife June, who have passed away and left this unique legacy to their sons. Ronald Shelp was a member of the board of trustees for The American Folk Art Museum in NYC and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Representatives from Smithsonian just visited to select pieces to add to their permanent collection in DC.  The approximately 100 works include numerous pieces by Thornton Dial - one of the most prominent artists within the Outsider Art movement.

What is a veritable museum, the 5,322-square-foot, four-bedroom, three-bathroom full floor duplex condominium loft located in the Flatiron’s Photo Arts Building at 5 East 16th Street was meticulously constructed with art in mind. The duplex includes a separate, one-bed, one-bathroom two-level apartment accessible from the home’s foyer. While the art doesn't come with the home, any buyers could negotiate to purchase some of the works.
