Marsanne NYC: Chelsea’s New Modern Mediterranean Oasis
With spring in full swing and New Yorkers eagerly seeking new dining experiences, Marsanne NYC has arrived just in time. Nestled in the heart of Chelsea, Marsanne NYC is the brainchild of Igor Drca and Miljan Komnenic, two veteran restaurateurs known for their successful ventures, Recette in Brooklyn and The Consulate on the Upper West Side. This latest addition, a sprawling 150-seat restaurant, is their largest project yet and promises to be a culinary haven for those who appreciate Modern Mediterranean fare.
Upon entering Marsanne NYC, you are immediately struck by the inviting and open space. The restaurant features a bar where patrons can enjoy a meal, an expansive main dining area, and a cozy back room. The decor, custom-designed by Larisa Mihajlova, reflects a modern yet warm connection with nature. Greenery projects from the ceiling, art deco-style mirrors adorn the walls, and custom woodwork art installations create an ambiance that is both cozy and sophisticated. The large glass windows flood the space with natural light, enhancing the earthy color palette of old wooden tones, greenery, and volcanic rock fused with geometric, 3D shapes. This setting makes Marsanne NYC the perfect Chelsea hangout spot.
The menu at Marsanne NYC is a delightful blend of classic modern Italian dishes with a Mediterranean twist. One of the standout dishes is the cavatelli, a fresh seafood dish that is both fragrant and flavorful. The agnolotti, a delicious take on carbonara, is smoky and palatable, offering a unique and satisfying taste experience. For the main course, you can't go wrong with the filet mignon, perfectly cooked to your preference, or the branzino, which offers a lighter option with its delicate flavors. The appetizers are equally impressive, with the crudo and artichokes being must-tries for any group. Each dish is prepared with exceptional attention to detail, showcasing Chef Zivko Radojcic’s 14 years of experience in New York City's culinary scene and his time as a private home chef.
The beverage program at Marsanne NYC is equally noteworthy. Curated by Milos Kostadinovic, the selection includes fresh seasonal cocktails and mocktails that are perfect for spring and summer. The cocktails feature 100% homemade syrups, purées, and infusions, with highlights including the Disco Sour made with passion fruit, Planterey rum, and mango, and the Jardin, which combines matcha and jalapeño for a refreshing twist. The mocktails are just as creative, with options like the Pasteque, made with watermelon juice, and The Wizard, crafted with Earl Grey tea. The wine selection is mindful of sustainability, with many options being bio-dynamic and low intervention. Milos’s dedication to quality and sustainability shines through in every drink.
Service at Marsanne NYC is another highlight. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, ensuring that every guest feels welcome and well-cared for. The team’s camaraderie and passion for hospitality create a warm and inviting atmosphere that enhances the overall dining experience.
Inside you can explore the special areas, like the semi-private Le Mascaret Room, or the hidden rooftop, these spaces add an extra layer of exclusivity and charm to Marsanne NYC. The Le Mascaret Room, with its dedicated bar and sound capabilities, is perfect for intimate events. The rooftop, which boasts views of the Empire State Building, is a hidden gem that is now softly open for private events and will soon offer wellness and DJ programming.
Marsanne NYC is currently open for dinner and brunch, with lunch, and breakfast in the coming weeks. Dinner hours are Sunday and Monday from 5pm to 10pm, and Tuesday to Saturday from 5pm to 11pm. Brunch will be available on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am to 3:30 pm (subject to change), lunch from Monday to Friday from 11am to 4pm, and breakfast daily from 7am to 10am.
Overall, the experience at Marsanne NYC was exceptional. The combination of delicious Modern Mediterranean fare, a thoughtfully curated beverage program, and a beautifully designed space makes it a standout in Chelsea’s dining scene. Whether you’re looking for a great brunch spot or a place for a sophisticated dinner, Marsanne NYC is sure to impress. I look forward to returning to try more of the appetizers and to explore the special event spaces.
