Our Favorite Listing: The Penthouse at The Schumacher for $17.9M

Our favorite listing this week is Penthouse A at 36 Bleeker st. in NoHo., with over 6,000 square feet to spare. The 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom residence features two wraparound terraces complete with a gas grill, and a stunning glass-enclosed living room; there is a massive 67 foot-long gallery and a marble-clad office /library with a fireplace.

The home is currently listed for $17,900,000 after being reduced from it’s $25 million dollar listing back in 2015 according to StreetEasy.

The building is a certified Billionaire's Club (as mentioned), where Alberto "Tico" Magrabi, owner of the world's largest Warhol collection lives. The building is also home to Jonah Hill and a few other notable names.

The Western wing encompasses a massive 19'6 x 28'4 Great Room. Open to the Great Room, a true chef's kitchen is exquisitely appointed with hand-selected artisanal surfaces that include book-matched Calacatta slab stone countertops and backsplash, and a stunning Calacatta slab stone waterfall island breakfast bar, and outfitted with top appliances and a full pantry. A separate service entrance is discretely located adjacent to the pantry for seamless living and entertaining.

A sculptural staircase leads to the lower level with the exceptional Master Suite, comprising a corner master bedroom lined with oversized north and east-facing windows, a large walk-in closet, and an enormous spa-like windowed master bath featuring Calacatta stone-tiled walls, a double vanity, free-standing soaking tub, steam shower suite, and private water closet. There are 3 additional bedrooms all with en suite baths. A central gallery with separate entrance, two large walk-in closets, a Utility Closet with side-by-side washer and dryer complete this level.

The Schumacher was constructed in 1885 to house the Schumacher and Ettlinger lithographic printing business. It was originally designed by Edward E. Raht, in Romanesque Revival Style. Highlights include the corbelled brick layering, ornamental overhangs arched windows, parapets and turrets.

Amenities: 24-hour doorman, fitness center, library, children's playroom, landscaped rooftop (designed by Ken Smith), refrigerated lobby storage, bicycle storage and individual storage spaces are available for purchase.

John Burger, Richard Ziegelasch at Brown Harris Steven are the listing brokers.
