Brookfield Place Donates $25K to Little Essentials
Tis the holiday season of giving, and one who is taking part is downtown’s Brookfield Place in a new way by creating a meaningful experience for both donors and recipients. Now in its fourth year, Luminaries, a mesmerizing light installation created by the LAB at Rockwell Group for Brookfield Place, the canopy of glowing lanterns has come to symbolize the power of community giving.
“We are so excited Brookfield Place chose to partner with Little Essentials,” said Elissa Young, Executive Director of Little Essentials. “This extremely generous donation will make a huge impact on our organization and will allow us to continue the work we do and provide baby essentials to even more NYC families living in poverty.”
For every wish cast by visitors to the Winter Garden, Brookfield Place donated $1 to Little Essentials, a New York City based non-profit that provides urgently needed resources and parenting education to families in crisis, totaling to a $25,000 donation that will greatly increase their ability to help poverty-stricken New Yorkers.
“When we were looking for partners this year, we were thrilled to connect with Little Essentials, as their services have a real impact on some of the youngest, most vulnerable New Yorkers,” said Elysa Marden, Vice President at Arts Brookfield. “To date, they have served over 25,000 children living in poverty, and we hope that our donation helps them to expand even further, especially as needs grow more urgent in the winter with a need for warmer clothing.”
Little Essentials works with a network of 19 community organizations including parenting programs, early childhood programs, domestic violence shelter, foster care and criminal justice agencies to get baby essentials into the hands of families who need them the most. This donation will provide diapers, winter clothing, strollers, and many other crucial items.
